Efficient work order management is crucial for field technicians, especially when handling complex grouped work orders. To support this, the Field Service App introduces enhanced sorting and filtering capabilities that streamline navigation and improve productivity.

When a technician click the start work order button on a grouped work order, the app displays both the parent work order and its associated child work orders. To help technicians manage these efficiently, two sorting menus are available at the top of the Grouped Work Order (WO) page:

  • Filter

  • Order By

By default, the app applies: Filter: All and Order By: Location

This means all child work orders are listed under their parent. The parent is the location.

Filter Options

Filter help technicians refine the list of child work orders based on specific criteria:

All: This will show all sub-work orders within the grouped work order, regardless of their status. This helps maintain a clear overview of the entire structure, similar to how it appears on the web portal.

Filter by Serial Number: You can filter sub-work orders by the equipment serial number. This is useful if you know the specific installation or equipment you are looking for, allowing you to narrow down the list to only those sub-work orders related to that serial number.

Hide Completed Work Orders: There is a filter that allows you to hide all completed sub-work orders. This provides a clear overview of only the remaining sub-work orders that still need to be completed, making it easier to manage outstanding work orders.

These filters are especially helpful when dealing with long lists of sub-work orders, ensuring technicians stay organized and focused.

Order By Options

The "Order By" allows technicians to sort child work orders within a group based on various attributes:

  • Location: Sorts child work orders by the address associated with each work order. This is the default option. All child work orders are grouped under their parent (location) and arranged in the order of their reference numbers.

  • Equipment type: Organizes the list based on the type of equipment linked to each work order.

  • Brand: Sorts child work order by the equipment brand they belong to.

  • Serial number: Sorts the child work orders by the equipment serial number.

  • Creation date (oldest on top): Displays the oldest work orders. This is based on the reference number on each child work order, smaller reference numbers appear first, and larger ones appear last.

  • Creation date (newest on top): Displays the most recently created work orders first. This is based on the reference number on each child work order, larger reference numbers appear first, and smaller ones appear last.

These sorting options help you quickly find and manage specific sub-work orders within a grouped work order, making it easier to focus on relevant work order or equipment as needed.
